Project 2 - Heritage Building Analysis

In a Group of five again, we had to study and research about a historical buidling in Selangor, Malaysia. After collecting datas and information about the building, we had to compile our individual works and present them in a web bok. All the photos here were taken personally during our visit to Chin Woo Stadium

The building that we have chosen is none other than the famous Chinwoo Stadium located at Jalan Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. The objective of the building is to cater as a Cultural and sports Centre. The buiding's project started in the 1930's and was officially completed in 1953. It was design by a Malaysian Chinese Architect known as Dato' Lee Yoon Thim.

From this second project, I have yet again learnt and gain a great deal of knowledge not only about the histories of architecture in Malaysia, but I have also gain a new insight about the ideas and concepts about the architectural style of the building. I have also manage to learn about the architectural influence and movement, components, materiality as well as the construction processes used in their era. In addition, I have improve my communication skills during the research analysis as well as learning new editting and designing skill using Visual softwares to produce an interactive and informative web book.

Project 1 - Precedent Studies

In a group of five, we were given a project wherby we had to choose one modern architecture by the famous master Architects, which are Frank Llyod Wright, Gropius, Mies Van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier. We had to research and analyse the building's structure, principles, concept and etc. After doing so, we had to write a report and present an A2 Board regarding the modern architecture building that we have chosen, which is Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright.

From this project, I have come to understand deeper about the principles, ideas and contributing factors of modern architecture today. Besides, I have also manage to identify the specific architectural features in terms of space planning, technology, details, form and the aesthetics feature of Falling Water. From this buiding alone, Not only do I understand a little better about modern architecture but am also able to apply the principles into my other design and projects. Overall, I have learn a great deal of knowledge through this first project and it has also helped in improving my drawing and coloring skills.
